Steve Jackson |
Steve Jackson begins his second season as the Wolfpack head coach in 2009-2010, after leading the Wolfpack to an 11-14 record in 2009 (6-9 in Baseline League play).
Prior to his position as head coach at Claremont, he spent the previous 13 seasons coaching Little League, as well as travel, club and American Legion baseball.
Jackson started his coaching career after his senior year of college at the University of North Alabama. As an assistant coach, his main responsibility was handling the infielders, but he also assisted with catchers and base running. Jackson also spent a year with Chaffey College as an assistant coach, where he held similar responsibilities.
He played locally for the Chaffey High School Tigers from 1979-1981, where they won the league in '79 and '80. He was selected as honorable mention and all-league as an infielder, and voted team captain by his peers. He went on to play at Chaffey College for the next two years, earning defensive player of the year and finishing in the top 10 in the state for stolen bases in his sophomore year.
Jackson was recruited to play at the University of North Alabama and helped the school win its first-ever Gulf South Conference title and its first invitation to the NCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament. He earned defensive player of the year for the two years that he played as a middle infielder for the Lions.
Jackson works full time as a division chief for the Montclair Fire Department, where he is responsible for the supervision of emergency medical services and training. An Upland resident, he is married to Michele (Henry), a Claremont High graduate, and has four sons: Steven, Kyle, Troy and Tyler.
